Elijah Friend of Sang Run, MD Book I
    (2nd Edition)
    by
    Patrick T. Smith

Elijah Friend was born in Sang Run, MD, in 1814. Elijah was the son of John Friend, Jr. (1764 to 1849) and Elizabeth Ward (1778 to 1845) and grandson of John Friend, Sr. (1728 to Aft 1808), patriarch of the family that established Friendsville, MD. He married Elizabeth Smith shortly before 1840 and they raised a family of at least nine children. Elijah was a store owner, farmer and healer. These books were formed with birth, marriage, death and burial records, then expanded with material from the US Census, family bibles, books, land deeds, wills, estate records, photographs, personal histories and military accounts. The first history on Elijah and his family was published in 2007 and comprised just over five hundred pages. This 2nd Edition was compiled over a two-year period and expanded to more than four thousand pages. The first book in this series will feature the material on Elijah’s oldest known six children (Joseph Harrison Friend, John Frederick Friend, Sr., David Hoye Friend, Elijah Friend, W.S. Friend, Richard Friend and Zadok Friend). Joseph Harrison Friend and David Hoye Friend, two of Elijah’s children, are contained in five separate books. The second book will present the lives the remaining children (Alfred C. Friend, Emma Jane Friend and Salmon P. Chase Friend). A child is featured in one book will be briefly outlined in the corresponding books. Each book has a compilation of information on Elijah Friend, as well as a brief review of the Friend Family back to Elijah’s 4x great grandfather Nils Larsson Friend (Frande) in the first. If a child is featured in one book, they will be briefly outlined in the corresponding book or books. This book contains 616 pages, fully indexed and presented in an outline format. Proceeds from the sales of the books (which are published by the FFAA) will go to the FFAA (a non-profit organization). All book sales are tax deductible and final.

The spiral bound books are Black and White.
