Jonathan Friend of Elder Hill, Son of Gabriel Friend, Book III
    Patrick T. Smith

Jonathan Friend (1797 to 1879) lived and died in the Northwest corner of Garrett County, MD called Elder Hill. Jonathan was the son of Gabriel Friend (1752 to 1854) and grandson of John Friend Sr. (1728 to Aft 1808). Jonathan Friend and his wife, Elizabeth Kinsey (Kinsie), were the parents of at least nine children: Mary Ann, Susannah, Isaiah, Henry K., Elizabeth, Catherine, Ann Eliza, Rebecca and Priscilla. There is little personal information available on Jonathan and Elizabeth, yet their home on Elder Hill has been preserved. These books attempt to chronicle the lives of Jonathan and Elizabeth, their children and countless descendants through US Census records, family bibles, land deeds, wills, photographs, personal histories, books, obituaries, newspaper articles, military records as well as birth, marriage and death records. Because of the quantity of material, these accounts will be divided into three books. The children were researched sequentially from the oldest to the youngest. Although the children are featured in one book, they will be briefly outlined in the corresponding book. The information of Jonathan Friend and Elizabeth, as well as, a brief outline of the Friend Family back to Nils Larsson Friend (Frande) will be presented at the beginning of all the books. Book III of the series will focus on the families of Rebecca and Priscilla Friend. If a child is featured in one of the three books, they will be briefly outlined in the corresponding books. These books are an attempt to record, organize, clarify and preserve a portion of the lives of Jonathan Friend and his extended family. This book is comprised of 428 pages, fully indexed and presented in an outline format. Proceeds from the sales of the books published by the FFAA will go to the FFAA (a non-profit organization).  All book sales are tax deductible and final.

Spiral bound books are Black and White and the USB, Download and CD formats are color copies.
