Patrick T. SmithJoab Jonah Friend was the third child of Andrew Coleman Friend and Sarah Nancy Harden. Joab was the great grandson of “Old” John Friend, founder of Friendsville and patriarch of the Garrett County Friend Family. Joab Friend and Amy Sines, his wife, with their twelve children, would live out their lives on farms a few miles Southwest of Friendsville, MD on a plot of land called Grime’s Point.
This book is the promised continuation of Pat Smith and Patty (Friend) Thompson’s Friend family series of Garrett County, MD. This reference book is comprised of over 602 pages, fully indexed and presented in an outline format. The authors openly welcome and encourage any additions and/or corrections to this information. The authors can be contacted through the Friend Family Association of America (FFAA) at Friendsville, MD or by e-mail through the FFAA web-site (www.friendfamilyassociation.com). The initial cost of printing the book has been donated to the FFAA. Proceeds from the sale of this book produced by the FFAA will go to the FFAA (a non-profit organization). All book sales are tax deductible. Each book in the initial offering will be signed by the author.
