Description
Freeman L. Friend, Rebecca Jane Small (Smalley, Smawley) of Harrison Co., MO, Book I
by
Patrick T. SmithFreeman L. Friend was born in Western MD in 1824. Freeman was the 5x great grandson of Nils Larsson Friend (Frande), a Swedish immigrant that came to the New World in 1642. Freeman was the oldest son of Joseph Friend (1799 to 1894) and Rachel Browning (1802 to 1869), grandson of John Friend Jr. (1749 to 1849) and great grandson of John Friend Sr. (1728 to Aft 1808) of Friendsville, MD. Born and raised in Sang Run, MD, Freeman would meet and married Rebecca Jane Small (Smalley, Smawley). The young couple headed west and had settled in Ringgold Co., IA with seven children by 1860. They would move once again in the spring of 1861 to the New Hampton area of Harrison County, Missouri (MO). Freeman and Rebecca had at least ten children.
This book attempts to chronicle the lives of Freeman L. Friend, his wife Rebecca, their children and countless descendants through US Census records, family bibles, land deeds, wills, photographs, personal histories, books, obituaries, newspaper articles, military records as well as birth, marriage and death records. Because of the quantity of material, these accounts will be divided into two books. The children were researched sequentially from the oldest to the youngest. The first book will focus on Jehu Hanse, Asa M., Dennis Lenondros and Mary Catherine Friend, while the second will cover: Joseph Bryon, Harriet A., Florence Aerene, Hanson Lincoln, Emma Rachel and Naomi Jane Friend. Although the children are featured in one book, they will be briefly outlined in the corresponding book. The information of Freeman and Rebecca, as well as, a brief outline of the Friend Family back to Nils Larsson Friend (Frande) will be presented at the beginning of all the books.
This book is comprised of 508 pages, fully indexed and presented in an outline format. Proceeds from the sales of the books published by the FFAA will go to the FFAA (a non-profit organization).
Spiral bound books are Black and White and the USB, Download and CD formats are color copies.
