    Emma Jane “Jennie” Friend
    (Daughter of Elijah Friend)
    Book II
    by
    Patrick T. Smith

Emma Jane Friend was born in Sang Run, Allegany (Garrett) Co., MD, in 1859. She was the daughter of Elijah Friend, the granddaughter of John Friend, Jr. and great-granddaughter of John Friend, Sr., patriarch of the family that established Friendsville, MD. She married Cornelius Ward Friend (Jr. or II) in 1881 and had a family of at least seven children. Emma Jane Friend was only thirty-four years old when she passed away. Cornelius Ward Friend would eventually marry Lizzie Mae (May) Friend.  Cornelius was also descended from John Friend, Sr. A single photo of Emma Jane Friend has survived. This book was formed with birth, marriage, death and burial records, then expanded with material from the US Census, family bibles, books, land deeds, wills, estate records, photographs, personal histories and military accounts. This book is a compilation of information on Emma Jane Friend and brief review of the Friend Family back to her 5x great grandfather Nils Larsson Friend (Frande). The first book will then feature the material on Emma Jane Friend’s oldest known three children (Elizabeth Grace Friend, Milton Oscar Friend and Ira Ellis Friend). A second book will present the lives of the remaining children (Orval (Orville) Elijah Friend, Pearl Emma Friend, Clarence Friend and Mabel J. Friend). A child  featured in one book will be briefly outlined in the corresponding book.

This book contains 250 pages, is fully indexed and presented in an outline format. Proceeds from the sales of the books (which are published by the FFAA) will go to the FFAA (a non-profit organization). All book sales are tax deductible and final.

Spiral bound books are Black and White and the USB, Download and CD formats are color copies.
